Where did the muslin in Bangladesh come from?
Muslin from Dacca had been the finest, he said, from where it used to be shipped to the far corners of the world. “Dacca?” I asked, surprised. Pakistan from 1947 to 1971 consisted of two parts geographically separated by 1,500 kilometers. At one side of the Indian subcontinent, bordering Burma, was East Pakistan, which became Bangladesh.
