Divide the number of events by the number of possible outcomes. This will give us the probability of a single event occurring. In the case of rolling a three on a die, the number of events is one (there's only one three on each die), and the number of outcomes is six.

Properties of Probability. In words, this means that the probability of an event must be a number between `0` and `1` (inclusive). In words: The probability of an impossible event is `0`. In words: The probability of an absolutely certain event is `1`.

If the probability of an event is exactly 0, then the event can't occur. If the probability of an event is exactly 1, then the event will definitely occur. Try It!

Equally Likely Events are the most common type of events that you will encounter in the IBPS PO, SO, SBI PO, Clerk and other similar exams. These are those events which are random and have thus an equal likelihood of occurrence. When the outcomes of an experiment are equally likely to happen, they are called equally likely events. Like during a coin toss you are equally likely to get heads or tails.
